Why Casey Neistat Quit His Daily Vlog

“I wanted to challenge myself creatively in a way that I had never been challenged before.”

Youtuber Casey Neistat has been posting a daily vlog since March 25, 2015. And if you have seen his videos, you know that they aren’t your everyday vlog. He wanted to push himself creatively so his videos are well-thought out stories, beautifully shot shorts, and incredibly entertaining for a ten minute snapshot into a man’s life.

Throughout the duration of this time, Casey has built a following of almost 6 million subscribers, and his videos have been viewed more than 1 billion times.  He is without a doubt, one of the most popular personalities on YouTube. But he announced this weekend that he has decided to stop doing his daily post. Why would someone quit something that has brought him “success”?

“It hasn’t been the creative fist fight that I want and need every single day … so I have to kill this, to give birth to what’s next.”

As his fans mourn the loss of their daily ritual, we are learning from what he had to say in his “goodbye video”. He talked about some of the struggles that artists and storytellers face every day like risk, success, and creative complacency. (We are also pretty thankful that STORY 2016 was featured on his vlog this year.)
