Not only is he a compelling storyteller, but he’s been a guide and coach to CEO’s, marketing teams, directors and other professionals on how to craft and tell stories for Fortune 500 companies, Academy Award winning movies and corporate brands grossing billions of dollars worldwide. In the world of storytelling, it doesn’t get much better than Pixar. (He’s also done work for Lucasfilm’s ILM…no big deal.) His storytelling has led him to tap back into a child-like curiosity and chart new territory in the film industry captivating audiences of all ages. That’s why we’ve worked for almost two years to get Matthew to STORY, and this is finally the year. We can’t wait to learn from him during our main stage sessions and during our pre-conference, full-day workshop on Wednesday, September 20th.

MacKenzie Huynh
When Pinterest came on the scene in 2010, it revolutionized “surfing the internet”, the wedding industry and DIY projects. Self-categorized as a “catalog of ideas”, Pinterest helps users to realize dreams, discover inspiration and feed their curiosity with an easy click of a button. But since Pinterest is the 4th largest social media network in the world, you probably already know that.
This year, we’re excited to have MacKenzie Huynh, a writer, editor and creative lead at Pinterest make the trip from San Francisco to Nashville to join us on the #STORY2017 stage. There’s a lot of insight to gain from MacKenzie as storytellers. For the past 4 years, she’s been dreaming up creative campaigns and helping define and evolve the Pinterest voice. Before taking the leap into tech, she was a magazine journalist and Senior Editor at Sunset magazine, where her favorite moment was a rugged 24-hour ride through a wild mustang sanctuary. We can’t wait to learn from her.

Steve Spiegel
We believe that a great story starts with curiosity—the power of wondering “what if?” At Disney Imagineering, “What if?” isn’t just a meeting topic, it’s a part of a daily, magical culture of curiosity. That’s one of the many reasons why we couldn’t be more excited to have Disney Imagineer, Steve Spiegel at STORY this year.
Steve has spent 27 years at Disney Imagineering where he is an Executive in the Story Development Department. What does that mean? His primary role as a writer is telling great stories that create immersive experiences for Disney Park guests. From writing the script for a 3D simulator attraction based on Star Wars, to writing a CircleVision movie about China, he’s done it all.
Steve says, “Make it clear. Make it concise. Make it compelling. Make it funny. Make it emotional. Every project is different.” So tell a great story, and immerse people in that story. But how do you do that? Come find out at #STORY2017.

Brad Montague
Brad is the creator of the hit YouTube sensation, Kid President, Socktober, and so much more. As the founder of the Montague Workshop, Brad and team are on a mission to make media and experiences that are full of wisdom, wonder, and whimsy. He’s a captivating storyteller who is continually curious about how joy can change the world.
This isn’t his first time on the STORY stage. After being our top-rated speaker of 2016, we teamed up with Brad to create the “Wonder Workshop,” a one-day event that took to 4 cities across the U.S. to inspire the creative community of storytellers to discover and perform their wonder work. On the heels of workshops and raving reviews, Brad is back with yet another brand-new talk about the magical role that storytellers play in the world, and what happens when our curiosity is greater than our fear. You’d be crazy to miss it.

AJ Hassan
Stories are powerful, which is why companies have utilized the art of storytelling to build memorable marketing campaigns and distinguishable brands. There are entire seminars and online workshops on using story and narrative for branding purposes, which often embrace formulaic approaches to narrative that often cause stories to lose their magical nature. That’s because there’s a fine line between utilizing narrative to hijack human minds and pull at heartstrings in order to sell product, and tapping into our humanity to promote the honest worldview of the human beings behind a brand. Few have balanced that line better than AJ Hassan.
After a productive career at the infamous Leo Burnett, AJ is the Executive Creative Director at powerhouse agency, R/GA Chicago. She is an amazing storyteller whose purpose-driven work has captivated a wide audience, which includes spearheading the Always’ digital sensation #LikeaGirl campaign, which has touched millions of people. AJ's creative body of work led her to be named Campaign’s Digital 40 Over 40 for 2017. There is much to learn from her meaningful approach to the way she helps brands tell stories, and we can’t wait to experience her talk this year at STORY.

Louis Richardson
Technology is impacting every area of our lives. Why should we as creative storytellers somehow assume it’s going to bypass us? Emerging cognitive technologies, like IBM’s Watson, is being leveraged to tackle life changing problems in a wide variety of industries and the creative arts is a prime beneficiary. To date, Watson has helped create new recipes, design fashion, and co-created the first cognitive movie trailer for the film “Morgan”.
Louis serves as a Chief Storyteller of IBM Watson Customer Engagement where he has the privilege of helping companies and organizations imagine, and realize, the possibilities of cognitive augmented life and work.

Miss Aniela
Surreal Fashion: where fashion meets fine art, beauty meets absurdity, and couture meets chaos. At least that’s Miss Aniela’s definition of it, and her work embodies just that. She is a photographer, artist and mother based in London who channels surrealism, eccentricity and boldness at the heart of her creative passion. In her work throughout Europe and the rest of the world, she suspends beautiful models in memorable, glamorous images, set in impeccably decorated rooms with a dreamy aristocracy and a surrealist subtext. Every image tells a story. Are you curious yet?
We can’t wait to learn from not only her work as an artist, but also from her own story as as she dreamed up and created a niche of her own as a creator and storyteller. Miss Aniela's work has been exhibited internationally for Vogue Italia, Saatchi Gallery and Affordable Art Fair, and featured in NY Arts, El Pais, ALARM Chicago and BBC. She is also a published author and produces the Fashion Shoot Experience worldwide. Our prediction? This will be one of the most talked about talks of #STORY2017.

Rich is a child-actor turned legendary sitcom creator, who has directed over 800 shows ranging from Happy Days to our favorite TGIF classics like Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, and so many more. As a child performer, his breakout role was that of Richard Rickover, the Beaver’s best friend during the final two seasons of “Leave It to Beaver.” In 1980, Correll served as associate producer on the television series “Laverne & Shirley,” which led to similar duties on such shows as “Police Squad!” as well as a lengthy stint on “Happy Days.” He also served as consulting producer on the family-friendly comedies “Valerie’s Family” and “Step by Step.” As a director, Correll has worked on an extensive number of comedies on television, starting with “Valerie’s Family” in the late ‘80s, followed by episodes of “Step by Step” and “Family Matters.” In the ‘00s, his directorial credits included shows starring popular teenage stars, including “That’s So Raven,” “Hannah Montana” (which Correll co-created), “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and “The Suite Life on Deck.”

Jason Jaggard
Last year at STORY, a creative and executive coach from Los Angeles named Jason Jaggard walked on stage and gave a talk that left everyone speechless. After his time on the main stage, we had to turn attendees away from his breakout session, because the room was so packed. One executive from a Fortune 100 Company turned down a private, invite-only tour of a special Johnny Cash exhibit with Joanne Cash inside the Country Music Hall of Fame because he said, “I’m sorry. I just cannot miss Jason Jaggard’s breakout.”
Due to popular demand, we’re excited to have Jason back for a never-before-heard talk at STORY 2017. He is an author, speaker, and founding partner of Novus Global, an elite executive coaching firm for CEOs, creatives, and high performing teams. He has worked with organizations like NBC Universal, Chick-Fil-A, Disney Animation Studios, United Way Worldwide, Starbucks…the list goes on and on. What has coaching leaders of that caliber taught Jason about the connections between creativity and leadership? Needless to say, quite a bit, and we can't wait for you to keep learning along with us.

Jim Krueger
Jim Krueger is an award-winning filmmaker, New York Times best-selling author, copy-writer, video game developer and comic book writer. He is quite literally one of the best storytellers we’ve ever met. He’s worked on everything from the X-Men to Batman and Superman to the Avengers, Star Wars, and the Justice League of America. Because of his curiosity about comic books and stories, he developed two new comic book formats, both which were later utilized by DC and Marvel. Creators dream of doing work with one of their industries leading brands—like DC. Or Marvel. Jim’s formats were utilized by both. (No big deal, right?)
He is a former Creative Director at Marvel Entertainment Group. We aren’t sure we need to say much more than that. From keynoting at Cambridge to guest lecturing at the White House, Jim’s presence at #STORY2017 is going to be special.

Esther Havens
Esther Havens is a humanitarian photographer who captures stories that transcend a person's circumstances and reveal their true strength. That’s why it’s fitting that she has worked on social-awareness campaigns with organizations like charity: water, TOMS Shoes, Warby Parker and Malaria No More. Her work and the stories that it tells has had far reaching effect because her images compel thought and challenge action. She has chosen the path of curiosity to see how she can help transform minds and hearts.
Esther has traveled to over 60 nations in the last 10 years—and she'll keep going until she sees that every person on the planet has access to education, clean drinking water and a job to provide for their families. Which begs the question, “how can we help?” We’re so excited to have Esther at STORY this year to inspire all of us as storytellers, and call us as a creative community to action to consider the role our work is playing in changing the future of our world.
Esther Havens

Good Good Good is an uprising of hopefuls marching against the hate, fear, and injustice in the world by celebrating and becoming accomplices in good work. They do this through a podcast, newsletter, and their GoodNewspaper that was recently funded within 48 hours through a wildly viral and successful Kickstarter Campaign.
Branden has worked with brands like Southwest Airlines, Disney, Comcast, Square and many more to help tell engaging stories in fresh and innovative ways. He has resonated as a storyteller with a rising generation of dreamers and change-makers in ways that few others have, which is one of the many reasons why we can’t wait to learn from him at #STORY2017.

Amber Rae
Often referred to as the “The Brené Brown of Wonder,” Amber Rae is an author, speaker, and creative catalyst devoted to unleashing the power that exists within each and every one of us. Her writing blends raw, personal anecdotes with psychology and neuroscience, and has inspired over 5 million people in 195 countries. Fortune said her work “is determined to help people tap into their creativity,” and Forbes said it “helps people follow through on their ambitions.” She certainly knows how to follow through on her’s. Her decision to, in her words, “choose wonder over worry” led her to launch a global public art project called “The World We Want,” start an “accelerator for your life” called The Bold Academy, and help launch six best-selling books as Chief Evangelist of Seth Godin’s publishing experiment.
Amber has collaborated with the likes of Kate Spade, Apple, Dove, and charity: water. And now, STORY. We’re so excited to have Amber on stage to talk to us about the power of choosing a lens of "Wonder over Worry,” and what that would mean for the work we create and the stories we tell. (We’re also excited for you to experience the interactive installation we’re collaborating on in the #STORY2017 lobby. Don’t miss it.)
